Karnataka Elections 2023: BJP promises uniform civil code, free cooking gas cylinders, and more in their manifesto

Karnataka Elections 2023: At the Bengaluru party headquarters on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda released the party’s platform, or “Praja Dhwani,” for the May 10 Karnataka elections. In the presence of party elder BS Yediyurappa and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Nadda unveiled the manifesto. The party’s platform emphasises infrastructural development, women’s empowerment, and youth welfare programmes.

Measures for cow protection were also included in the party’s manifesto

A uniform civil code, three free cooking gas cylinders per year, 0.5 litres of Nandini milk per day for all poor families, and Atal Ahaar Kendras in every ward are a few of the party’s main poll pledges. According to Basavaraj Bommai, the manifesto was created with the state’s overall growth and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sabka sath, sabka vikas” vision in mind. Nadda, the head of the BJP, discussed the accomplishments and goals of the party while highlighting the advantages of a double-engine administration. The BJP touched on every aspect of society in their election platform for 2018. Measures for cow protection were also included in the party’s manifesto. Ahead of the state Assembly elections, Congress has also pledged a variety of guarantees to the Karnataka electorate, including 200 free energy units and programmes for women.

Here are some of the BJP’s key election promises

  • The BJP would establish a “Atal Aahara Kendra” in each ward of each municipal corporation to offer cheap, wholesome food throughout the state.
  • The party would introduce the “Poshana” programme, under which every home in need will receive monthly ration kits including 5 kg of Shri Anna-siri dhanya and half a litre of Nandini milk everyday.
  • They will unveil the Visvesvaraya Vidya Yojana, an initiative that would see the state government team up with illustrious people and organisations to completely upgrade public schools to world-class levels.
  • The party intends to introduce the “Samanvaya” scheme, which will encourage SME and ITI cooperation and create a vibrant ecosystem of educational opportunities and jobs for young, skilled individuals.
  • The national party will offer cash incentives for students to pursue coaching for IAS/KAS/Banking/Government Jobs in order to help aspirational youth in their professional pursuits.
  • Through “Mission Swasthya Karnataka,” the party seeks to improve the state’s public healthcare system by establishing a Namma clinic with diagnostic tools in each municipal corporation ward. Senior citizens would also receive a free yearly comprehensive health checkup from them.
  • In order to establish micro-cold storage facilities, agro-processing units in all GPs, modernise and digitise APMCs, speed up farm mechanisation, establish 5 new Agro-Industry clusters, and create 3 new FoodProcessing Parks, the BJP has pledged to create a Rs 30,000 crore K-Agri Fund. This fund will be supported by a 1,000 strong FPO ecosystem.
  • A high-level committee that will be established for the purpose will make suggestions that the party would use to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Karnataka.
  • All BPL families would receive three free cooking gas cylinders from the party each year, one for each of the festivals of Yugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Deepavali.
  • The Revenue Department would allocate 10 lakh house plots to the beneficiaries of the “Sarvarigu Suru Yojana,” which the party will introduce.
