Karnataka News: Lokayukta Busts Major Corruption Case, Assets Worth ₹14.38 Crore Recovered

The Lokayukta’s findings have once again brought the focus on corruption.

A fresh political controversy has erupted in Karnataka after the Lokayukta conducted raids exposing a massive corruption case, leading to the recovery of assets worth ₹14.38 crore linked to Sarfaraz Khan, the private secretary of Congress minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Lokayukta Busts Major Corruption Case, Assets Worth ₹14.38 Crore Recovered

According to information shared by BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya, the Lokayukta action revealed a large accumulation of wealth allegedly disproportionate to known sources of income. The seized assets reportedly include four luxury houses, 37 acres of land, jewellery worth nearly ₹3 crore, luxury vehicles and multiple financial investments.

Amit Malviya questioned how a private secretary could amass such enormous wealth

Calling it a reflection of Congress’ governance model, Amit Malviya questioned how a private secretary could amass such enormous wealth, suggesting that the scale of assets raises serious concerns about corruption at higher levels. He termed the episode as the “real cost” of Congress’ brand of politics, alleging that it is hidden behind slogans while scandals continue to surface.

The development has intensified political tensions in the state, with the BJP demanding strict action, accountability and a transparent investigation into the matter. Party leaders have also called for scrutiny of the minister’s role and questioned whether senior officials were aware of the alleged illegal accumulation of assets.

Meanwhile, the Congress has not issued a detailed response to the allegations so far. Political observers say the case could have serious political implications, especially with corruption remaining a sensitive issue in Karnataka’s governance discourse.

The Lokayukta’s findings have once again brought the focus on corruption, misuse of power and accountability in public offices, with demands growing for swift legal action and institutional transparency.
