Kharif crops: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann emphasises on supplementing farmers' income

Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met in detail with officers from the Agriculture Department and the Punjab Agriculture University to plan the state's next kharif crop. The Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting at his office in Punjab Civil Secretariat-I, stated that the state government is committed to making agriculture a profitable venture. He stated that the greatest emphasis should be placed on supplementing farmer income. Bhagwant Mann stated that the state will place a strong emphasis on crop diversification.

Committed to make agriculture a profitable venture

The Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting at his office in Punjab Civil Secretariat-I, stated that the state government is committed to making agriculture a profitable venture. He stated that the greatest emphasis should be placed on supplementing farmer income. Bhagwant Mann stated that the state will place a strong emphasis on crop diversification.

Bhagwant Mann to consult farmers directly

According to the Chief Minister, the state government will consult with farmers directly. He stated that detailed consultations with farmers will take place prior to the sowing of the next crop. Bhagwant Mann requested that the Punjab Agriculture University meet with the farmers directly to discuss the issue. The Chief Minister stated that PAU teams must meet with farmers directly at the grass roots level and solicit their feedback on cropping patterns. He stated unequivocally that any policy affecting farmers in Punjab will now be implemented after extensive consultation with farmers and other stakeholders. Bhagwant Mann stated that the state government will leave no stone unturned in order to ensure the welfare of the state's farmers.
