On the occasion of the surprise power shift at the RJD candidate selection for the last five years, a bruised ex-RJD candidate Madan Shah in his outburst to the public was making a point that party leader Tejashwi Yadav was “very arrogant” — “ghamandi hai” — and that he was not given a ticket though it was most likely already decided from the start. According to Shah, he was guaranteed a ticket from the Madhuban assembly constituency and, at present, he feels like being thrown away.

Denied a Ticket

According to the Shah, the RJD under the trio of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav had first promised him a ticket and later given it to another candidate. He also mentions that money was being asked for: “They wanted ₹2.7 crore. As I was not able to give the amount, the ticket was given to someone else.”

What a Drama He Created on the Street!

In a scene recorded by the press, Shah is protesting with his tears and grief outside the residence of Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna. He is said to have ripped his clothes, thrown himself on the ground, and visibly followed Lalu’s car with his anger and pain. Many people are sharing this video widely through different social media platforms.

There is a video of Shah’s protest that is doing the rounds of the town, and dialogue from it is as follows:

“They are not going to form the government; Tejashwi is very arrogant. He doesn’t meet people… I have come here to die.”

Features: Inside the Unrest

Historic loyalty claim: He says he has been working for the RJD since the 1990s and that he was even involved in the community survey work under Lalu’s guidance.

Manufactured Ticket-Grabbing: He points out that the party provided a ticket to a person whom he refers to as “a BJP agent,” thereby accusing the party of favouring the insiders.

Emotional display: His tearing his kurta and crying in public demonstrates not only the seriousness of his complaint but also the heavy emotional pressure he feels.

These incidents, coming just before the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, have a wider impact in that, besides questioning RJD’s internal selection process and public image, they provoke other thoughts and considerations.
