12 cheetahs released in acclimatisation enclosure at Kuno National Park after 2-month quarantine

In the Kuno National Park, all the 12 cheetahs brought from South Africa in the second phase have now been freed from the quarantine enclosure in the larger enclosure. The biggest thing is that they were being given food in the Quarantine enclosure for two months, now they will have to hunt themselves. After one month, if their health and behavior is normal, they will be set free in the free range area of Kuno National Park.

In Kuno, a cheetah has left the Oban forest and reached the Madhav National Park in the neighboring Shivpuri district. Here, out of 12 cheetahs brought from South Africa in the second phase, 3 male cheetahs were released in the big enclosure two days back. Last day, the remaining 9 cheetahs have also been released one by one in the big enclosure. They were brought to India on February 18, since then all of them were kept in a small enclosure, where they had a quarantine period.

The 12 cheetahs that have been freed in the big enclosure will stay here for at least a month. During this, experts will keep an eye on their habits, behavior and health. If everything is normal and favorable to the weather, then they will be released one by one in the free range area in the forest of Kuno.

A total of 23 male and female cheetahs are now present in Kuno

Since September 17 till now, 20 cheetahs have been brought to Kuno National Park from Namibia and South Africa in two phases.
