Amit Shah to Unveil Madhya Pradesh Government’s Report Card

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to unveil the Madhya Pradesh Government’s performance “report card” on August 20 in Bhopal. Following this, he will convene and address the BJP’s working committee meeting in Gwalior, a significant stronghold for Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. A spokesperson from the party shared these details on Thursday.

The State BJP leader, who chose to remain anonymous, disclosed that Shahji’s visit will begin in the morning with the report card release event in Bhopal. Subsequently, he will proceed to Gwalior, where he will preside over and deliver a speech at the working committee meeting. This event is intended to chart out the party’s strategies and plans, drawing the participation of BJP MLAs, MPs, district presidents, and general secretaries. The gathering is expected to accommodate approximately 1,200 key party figures and aims to finalize the party’s approach for the impending polls.

Madhya Pradesh’s Assembly elections are anticipated to take place in the coming months. The BJP is directing its efforts toward strengthening its presence in Gwalior, a region historically associated with the Scindia dynasty. The party’s resolve is particularly evident after the BJP’s defeat in the Gwalior mayoral elections last year, marking the Congress’s victory after 57 years.

Notably, this marks Amit Shah’s second visit to the state within a month. His previous visit on July 30 involved engaging with booth-level workers in the Indore district.

In the 2018 Assembly elections, the Congress secured victory in 26 out of 34 seats in the Gwalior and Chambal region. Worth mentioning is that Jyotiraditya Scindia was aligned with the Congress during that period.
