Jabalpur News: A video of Anju Bhargava, the Vice President (VP) of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has gone viral, sparking intense backlash. The video is linked to a protest that took place on December 20 at a church in Gorakhpur area of Jabalpur.
In the video, the BJP leader can be seen allegedly making derogatory remarks at the visually impaired woman.
Bhargava commented that the visually impaired woman was blind in this life and would remain blind in the next life as well. She can also be seen questioning the woman for wearing vermilion and bringing a child among Christians. The video footage also shows the BJP leader allegedly holding the disabled woman’s hand and engaging in a physical scuffle. Surprisingly, police personnel at the spot are seen intervening to defuse the situation.
Bhargava even alleged that the young girl was doing ‘dhandha’ or business through religious conversions, exploiting vulnerable children attending the event. In contrast, the disabled woman maintained her composure and urged Bhargava to “speak properly, talk with words, don’t get physical,” highlighting her plea for non-violent resolution amid the aggression.
Jabalpur News-What Was The Reason For The Scuffle?
A large number of Hindu organization activists gathered at a church in Jabalpur’s Gorakhpur area alleging forced religious conversions. It was claimed by the protestors that visually impaired students were being brought to the church for conversion.
Backlash After The Video
Congress and other opposition parties launched sharp attacks on the ruling BJP government in the state. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate shared the video on social media, alleging that the woman seen assaulting a visually impaired person is BJP’s Jabalpur district vice-president Anju Bhargava.
Shrinate accused the BJP of double standards between its rhetoric and actions. She also termed the entire incident as an example of “cruelty and insensitivity.”
