Jyotiraditya Scindia: Madhavi Raje Scindia, the mother of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, has passed away. She had been admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS for over 15 days, battling a lung infection. Her condition had deteriorated during the election campaign in the Guna Lok Sabha constituency. Following this, her daughter-in-law, Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, and grandson Mahāryaman Scindia had left the campaign to accompany her to Delhi. Jyotiraditya Scindia himself had traveled to Delhi on May 5.

As per reports, Madhavi Raje Scindia breathed her last at 9:30 in the morning. Her demise has cast a wave of mourning in the region, with solemnity prevailing at the Scindia Palace in Gwalior. Official information from the Gwalior royal family has not been released yet.

Madhavi Raje was the wife of Madhavrao Scindia and the daughter of the Nepalese royal family. She married Madhavrao Scindia on May 8, 1966. Her husband had passed away in a helicopter accident. Madhavi Raje mostly resided in Delhi and kept herself away from public events and the media. She was occasionally seen at public events with her family.
A year ago, she had visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with her family. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, and Mahāryaman Scindia were also present during the meeting. After that, she had attended a couple of events in Gwalior. Over the past few months, she had been rarely seen in public places. Her health had worsened since contracting COVID-19.
