Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: AIMIM Enters Elections, Fielding Former Congress Leader in Burhanpur

Nafees Mansha Khan's inclusion in AIMIM after his rebellion against the Congress has stirred up the political landscape

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM party has made its entry into the Madhya Pradesh state assembly elections. Initially, AIMIM had decided not to contest MP assembly elections.

However, when Congress did not allocate tickets to minority candidates as per their agreed sharing arrangement, the party reversed its decision and announced its participation in the elections. AIMIM has begun its journey in South Madhya Pradesh from the predominantly minority-populated Burhanpur constituency, near the Maharashtra border.

‘Congress Will Learn a Lesson from the People’

Expressing dissatisfaction over Congress not fielding minority candidates, AIMIM has nominated former Congress leader and prominent minority community advocate Nafees Mansha Khan as its candidate. Nafees Mansha Khan has protested against the Congress party’s decision, claiming an “insult” to minority leaders. He noted that in the 2018 elections, the people of Burhanpur elected an independent candidate, Thakur Surendra Singh, but he did not stand with the public on critical issues. The people of Burhanpur will teach Congress a lesson, he added. Khan emphasized that they would address the city’s development and fundamental issues while engaging with the public.

BJP Accused of Having a ‘B-Team’

Nafees Mansha Khan’s inclusion in AIMIM after his rebellion against the Congress has stirred up the political landscape. During the elections, strict actions will be taken against those who openly criticize the party and indulge in indiscipline behind the scenes.

BJP Dismisses Allegations, Called them Baseless

The Congress’s allegation that AIMIM is the ‘B-team’ of the BJP is unfounded, according to Gyaneshwar Patil, the BJP Member of Parliament for the Khandwa-Burhanpur constituency. He pointed out that AIMIM has been the BJP’s most significant opponent in both Parliament and on the streets, from the legislative floor to the public eye. AIMIM’s entry into the election arena will not harm the BJP; instead, it will be the Congress that bears the brunt.
