Madhya Pradesh CM Orders Strict Action in Nursing College Scam, Announces State-Level Entrance Exam

MP Nursing Exam: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has mandated stringent measures against those implicated in the nursing college scam and has introduced a state-level competitive examination for nursing college admissions, akin to engineering and medical entrance exams.

In a high-level meeting with senior officials on Saturday, CM Yadav declared that all officials and employees involved in the irregularities would face termination, with specific actions directed against the former registrar and secretary of the Nursing Council.

Key Decisions Taken:

  1. State-Level Competitive Exam: Nursing students will now have to clear a state-level examination to gain admission to nursing colleges.
  2. Commission Formation: A commission will be established in accordance with the Centre’s Nursing Act, with the National Commission set to recognize new nursing colleges in the future.
  3. Dismissal and FIRs: All officers and employees found guilty of malpractices will be dismissed. The Delhi CBI team has already taken action against two CBI officers in Bhopal, leading to their dismissal and FIRs against other individuals involved in the scam.

In an official statement on social media, CM Yadav reiterated the commitment to addressing the irregularities. “Instructions have been given to take strict action in all cases of irregularities in nursing teaching institutions. The services of all the officers and employees involved will be terminated. On the lines of engineering and medical, nursing students will have to appear for the examination at the state level. A commission will be formed in the state as per the Centre’s Nursing Act. In the future, the National Commission will give recognition to nursing institutions. Also, action will be taken against the then registrar and secretary of the Nursing Council. Such irregularities will not be tolerated at all,” he asserted.

Background:

The nursing college scam in Madhya Pradesh involved significant malpractices in the recognition process of nursing colleges. Following a detailed investigation by the Delhi CBI team, actions were taken against two CBI officers in Bhopal, resulting in their dismissal. FIRs have been filed against several others implicated in the scam, ensuring that justice will be pursued diligently.

These reforms and actions highlight the state government’s resolve to maintain transparency and integrity in the nursing education sector.
