Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (63), who has set several milestones in his long political career and especially through his flagship 'Laadli Laxmi Yojana', which earned him the title of Mama (uncle) of children. On February 19, 2021, Shri Chouhan had taken a pledge to plant 'one sapling every day' during his Amarkantak stay on the banks of the holy Narmada. in the morning. Usually when he is in Bhopal, Chouhan leaves his official residence in Shyamala Hills area to plant saplings in Central Park. But, even when he is out of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, the process continues and he plants a sapling wherever he is on that day.

Yatra started on Narmada Jayanti

The journey of planting a sapling every day started on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti (February 19, 2021), which he is continuing even after two years. Whether it is change of weather like winter, summer, rain or health problems or being busy in discharging the duties of the Chief Minister and complications of migration to the state and outside the state, no situation deters him from his fast. Plant trees everyday.

The activity of planting saplings expanded from many towns and cities of the state including Bhopal to 12 states of the country. Now many social organizations and people have joined them in planting saplings.

Taking this pledge forward, it has called upon people to plant saplings on important occasions in their lives such as birthdays, marriage anniversaries, death anniversaries to keep the memories of their family members alive.

Plantation drive continues during Covid

"As a result of his call, the plantation activity expanded in the entire state including the capital Bhopal. The important thing is that even when the world was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the plantation drive continued with caution. More than 1600 people have done so Planted saplings with them from January 2022. In this way, Chief Minister Chouhan's personal fast became the resolution of the society.
