Madhya Pradesh Polls: Congress Will Win 150 Seats says Rahul Gandhi

Madhya Pradesh Polls: Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, stated today that the party is confident it will triumph in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.

“We had a long discussion, our internal assessment is that we got 136 seats in Karnataka, we are going to get 150 seats in Madhya Pradesh,” Mr Gandhi said while addressing reporters in Delhi.

At the party headquarters today, Mr. Gandhi and senior members of the Congress party from Madhya Pradesh discussed preparations for the approaching assembly elections.

In an effort to mobilise party cadres and set the stage for the elections, the conference was also attended by the party’s Madhya Pradesh coordinator and state unit chief, Kamal Nath.

“About 4 months are left for the elections in Madhya Pradesh. The future of Madhya Pradesh and important issues of the state were discussed in the meeting,” Mr Nath said after the meeting.

The party announced earlier this week that it will not run in the BJP-ruled state’s elections on the basis of its face but rather on concerns brought up by voters during the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” of its former president, Rahul Gandhi.

Party leader Pawan Khera claimed that Mr. Gandhi spoke with people from all throughout the state during the yatra, a foot march from Kanyakumari to Srinagar, and that issues including price increases, unemployment, corruption, and women’s safety came up during those interactions. According to Mr. Khera, voters expect political parties will address their concerns.

Despite losing the 2018 elections in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP was still able to seize control of the state in 2020 when Kamal Nath’s Congress government fell. With the exception of the time from December 18, 2018, to March 2020, when Mr. Nath led the Congress government, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been in office since November 29, 2005. The BJP is eager to secure another term for him.
