Mohan Yadav Expands Handloom and Khadi Sector to Boost Rural Employment

The Mohan Yadav government has announced new initiatives to strengthen cottage and village industries with a special focus on handloom, khadi, silk production, and women’s employment.

According to the government, new handloom clusters will be developed in additional districts on the lines of the well-known Maheshwari and Chanderi textile centres.

The initiative aims to promote traditional weaving industries, preserve local craftsmanship, and create new livelihood opportunities for artisans and workers associated with the handloom sector.

Push for Khadi Production

Officials stated that the government is also focusing on increasing khadi production by connecting older cotton mills and regions known for traditional weaving practices.

Authorities believe the move will help strengthen local industries, encourage indigenous textile production, and support self-employment opportunities in rural areas.

The state government said women’s employment and skill-based rural industries remain important components of the programme.
