The government of Madhya Pradesh, under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has announced a major push towards improving maternal and child health, with a significant allocation in the Budget 2026–27.
Mohan Yadav Govt Allocates ₹3,768 Crore for Nutrition
As part of this initiative, the state has earmarked ₹3,768 crore under the ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0’ scheme. The move aims to strengthen nutrition services and enhance the overall health of mothers and children across the state.
Budget 2026–27 in Madhya Pradesh
Officials stated that out of the total allocation, ₹1,150 crore has been dedicated specifically for nutritional food supply, ensuring that beneficiaries receive adequate and quality nutrition. Additionally, ₹250 crore has been allocated for the Poshan Abhiyan, focusing on awareness and improved nutrition outcomes.
The government emphasized that improving maternal and child nutrition is a key priority, as it directly impacts long-term health indicators and human development. Strengthening anganwadi services is expected to ensure better outreach and delivery of essential services at the grassroots level.
According to officials, the initiative aligns with the vision of building a “Healthy Mother, Nourished Childhood”, which is seen as the foundation of a developed Madhya Pradesh.
The administration believes that sustained investment in nutrition and healthcare will play a crucial role in reducing malnutrition rates and improving overall quality of life, contributing to the broader goal of a healthier and more prosperous society.
Officials further added that the scheme will also focus on capacity building of anganwadi workers and the use of technology for better monitoring and service delivery, ensuring transparency and efficiency in implementation across Madhya Pradesh.
