Mohan Yadav: Natural Farming Mission Gains Momentum, Over 1.89 Lakh Farmers Adopt Sustainable Practices

By expanding the programme across clusters, Madhya Pradesh aims to become a leading state in eco-friendly farming practices.

The Madhya Pradesh government is accelerating its push towards sustainable agriculture under the National Mission on Natural Farming, aiming to promote eco-friendly practices and improve farmers’ income. The initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Mohan Yadav: Over 1.89 Lakh Farmers Shift to Natural Farming

According to official data, around 1,89,125 farmers across 1,513 clusters in the state have adopted natural farming methods. The move is part of a broader strategy to reduce dependence on chemical inputs and promote soil health.

Financial Support for Farmers

To encourage adoption, the government is providing financial assistance of ₹4,000 per acre per year to farmers practicing natural farming. Officials said this support is aimed at easing the transition and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Role of ‘Krishi Sakhis’

A total of 3,026 ‘Krishi Sakhis’ have been selected across the state to assist farmers with training, guidance, and implementation of natural farming techniques. Each Krishi Sakhi is provided a monthly honorarium of ₹5,000, strengthening grassroots support systems.

Focus on Sustainable Agriculture

The initiative focuses on reducing input costs, improving soil fertility, and increasing productivity through organic and natural methods. Experts believe such measures will help in building climate-resilient agriculture and ensuring environmental conservation.

Boost to Rural Economy

Officials stated that natural farming is expected to enhance farmers’ income while reducing expenditure on fertilizers and pesticides. The approach also aims to create new opportunities in rural areas through training and capacity-building initiatives.

Government’s Vision

The state government emphasised that promoting natural farming is key to achieving long-term agricultural sustainability. By expanding the programme across clusters, Madhya Pradesh aims to become a leading state in eco-friendly farming practices.

Natural Farming Mission Gains Momentum

The initiative reflects a growing shift towards sustainable and farmer-centric policies, focusing on both economic growth and environmental balance.
