MP girl mades up own kidnapping story after failing in college exam

B.A. A 17-year-old girl fabricated a false story of her kidnapping after failing in the first year annual examination. Thereafter she moved from Indore in Madhya Pradesh to nearby Ujjain as she was afraid that her parents would scold her if she failed in the examination. A police officer gave this information on Sunday. He said that a first-year student of BA course in a college here was brought from Ujjain, located about 50 km from Indore, and handed over to her family on Saturday.

Inspector Rajendra Soni of Banganga police station said that the student’s father lodged a complaint on Friday night that his daughter was abducted from near a temple in Indore when she was on her way home from college, hours after the results were declared. The official said that the complainant said that his daughter called him from an unknown number and told that she has been abducted in Indore.

Soni said the girl told her father that a faculty member of the college had dropped her at an intersection near the temple, following which she boarded an e-rickshaw. The inspector said that the girl also told her father that the rickshaw puller took her to an isolated place and put a cloth over her mouth, due to which she fell unconscious.

He said that when the CCTV footage of the area mentioned by the girl was examined, her claim was found to be false.

Meanwhile, the police received information about a girl sitting alone in a restaurant in Ujjain, the official said. When the photo was examined, the missing girl was found from Indore.

Soni told that later the girl was brought from Ujjain to Indore and her bag was checked. He said that Indore-Ujjain bus ticket and a bill of a restaurant in Ujjain were found in this bag. A policeman later counseled her. Soni said the girl told the counselor that she had fled to Ujjain. Fabricated the false story of her kidnapping as she was not in a position to face her parents after failing in BA 1st year annual examination. She was afraid that they would scold her. Police said the girl has been handed over to her parents.
