On the final day of his official tour to Spain, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav explored some of Barcelona’s most iconic architectural and cultural landmarks, drawing inspiration to transform public spaces and elevate cultural tourism in his home state.

The CM visited Park Güell, Sagrada Familia, and the Picasso Museum, emphasizing how internationally acclaimed models of urban design, spiritual architecture, and public art can serve as blueprints for Madhya Pradesh’s development goals.

Park Güell: Model for Theme-Based Green Public Spaces in MP

Dr. Yadav began his day at Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fusion of nature and architecture, designed by Antoni Gaudí. Admiring features like the Dragon Staircase, the Hypostyle Hall, and the Serpentine Bench, he highlighted the park’s ecological integration and cultural aesthetics.

“Park Güell is a shining example of how urban green spaces can be culturally vibrant and environmentally sustainable,” Dr. Yadav said. “Madhya Pradesh’s cities can develop similar parks that blend local artistry with modern ecological planning.”

Sagrada Familia: A Vision for Timeless Sacred Architecture

At the Sagrada Familia, the unfinished basilica that has captivated architects for over 140 years, Dr. Yadav studied Gaudí’s spiritual symbolism and intricate craftsmanship.

He suggested using this model of long-term architectural vision and spiritual relevance for enhancing MP’s own sacred cities like Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Chitrakoot.

“Religious architecture, when thoughtfully envisioned, becomes timeless and globally respected. We can set similar benchmarks in India,” he said.

Picasso Museum: Promoting MP’s Folk Art on a Global Stage

Dr. Yadav’s final stop was the Picasso Museum, home to the artist’s early works and the renowned “Las Meninas” series. The visit fueled his resolve to digitally promote traditional MP art forms like Gond, Phad, and Mandana on international platforms.

“Art is not just for galleries—it’s a source of livelihood, identity, and education. Madhya Pradesh’s indigenous art deserves a global audience,” he asserted.

A Vision Beyond Borders

Dr. Yadav’s Spain visit marks a shift in approach for Madhya Pradesh—from routine infrastructure development to culturally rooted urban transformation. His observations and proposals underscore a commitment to make MP a hub of heritage tourism, green development, and global cultural exchange.

The government is expected to unveil a policy framework for theme-based parks, international art promotion, and spiritual site upgrades in the coming months, potentially shaping the next phase of Madhya Pradesh’s growth story.
