MP News: According to officials, Madhya Pradesh has introduced a policy for the quick expansion of the state's 5G network, with an emphasis on expediting the process of providing government permissions for the extension of such services by telecom and internet service providers.
According to state Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha in Indore, if telecom and internet service providers and firms creating infrastructure do not receive government clearance within the specified time frame, it will be declared granted.
“We want the 5G network to spread rapidly in the state. For this, we have introduced the 5G policy. It will help companies in developing the infrastructure of 5G services,” he said.
“I think 5G network will be available in the entire state within one-and-a-half to two years," Sakhlecha said.
Abhijit Agrawal, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC), stated that the state's 5G policy was developed using the Centre's standards as well as inputs from the industry.
Rapid growth of the 5G network in the next six months
According to him, the programme would result in a rapid growth of the 5G network in the next six months, particularly in urban regions. According to officials, the licencing authority must decide on an application for a licence on government land/property within 60 days after receiving it, and this time limit includes the time required to collect NOCs from various agencies and officers.
They stated that the licencing body must respond to an application for a licence on private land or building within three days of receipt. The licencing authority must decide on the application for a licence for tiny cells on street furniture within 30 days after receiving it.
If the application is not disposed of within the time limit specified in the preceding provisions, a presumed licence will be regarded in the context of the application in question and issued on the notified portal. However, the applicant must provide the requisite costs before the considered licence may be issued, according to the officials.
