The announcement was made at a gathering in the presence of his father, who has a significant political influence in the region.

Chhindwara has long been considered a bastion for the Nath family, with Kamal Nath representing the constituency for an impressive nine terms in the Lok Sabha. Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sweeping the majority of seats in the state during the 2019 polls, Nakul Nath emerged victorious in Chhindwara.

Addressing the crowd, Nakul Nath sought to dispel concerns about factionalism within the party, assuring that his candidature would have the full support and guidance of Kamal Nath.
