MP News: SC Rejects Muslim Plea, ASI Begins Survey of Bhojshala Mosque Complex in Dhar

Supreme Court Decision on Bhojshala Mosque Complex ASI Survey

The Supreme Court has upheld the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) survey of the Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, dismissing a petition filed by the Muslim side.

ASI Survey Commences Amidst Tight Security

A team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began the survey of the contentious Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, accompanied by senior local police and district administration officials. The survey, initiated early in the morning, utilized modern technologies such as GPS and carbon-dating equipment, as directed by the high court.

Assurance of Religious Practices Continues

Dhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kumar Singh assured that customary religious practices at the site, including ‘puja’ on Tuesdays and ‘namaz’ on Fridays, would continue as usual. He pledged to coordinate with ASI officials to ensure the smooth conduct of these activities, emphasizing the commitment to maintain peace and order.

Muslim Community Absent During Survey

Eyewitnesses noted the absence of Muslim community members during the ASI survey, although Friday prayers continued under tight security measures. Despite this, the SP assured that all necessary steps were being taken to maintain peace and harmony.

Legal Challenges and Security Measures

A Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Muslim community challenging the High Court order was scheduled for Supreme Court hearing on April 1. Stringent security measures were implemented, with a significant police presence observed at the site to prevent any potential disturbances and maintain law and order.
