Special Arrangements by Election Commission for Elderly and Disabled Voters in Lok Sabha Elections

According to the ECI, eligible voters who wish to cast their votes from home will be required to fill out a form. To facilitate this process, an app named “Saksham” will be available for their use. Once the form is filled and submitted, elderly and disabled voters will be able to exercise their franchise without visiting the polling stations.

While some elderly voters may prefer to vote at polling stations

While some elderly voters may prefer to vote at polling stations, the Election Commission has ensured that special arrangements are in place to assist them. This includes the provision of wheelchairs at all polling stations and the presence of volunteers to help elderly and disabled voters.

In addition to these measures, the Election Commission has also arranged for transportation facilities for elderly and disabled voters, ensuring their participation in the electoral process.

The Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, emphasized the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in the electoral process, stating that the ECI has made provisions for basic amenities at all 10,48,000 polling stations across the country. These measures aim to ensure that every eligible voter, regardless of age or disability, can exercise their right to vote without any hindrance.
