In a momentous occasion, the stage is set for the unveiling of a towering 108 ft-high statue of Adi Shankaracharya, a revered icon symbolizing ‘Unity and Oneness,’ in the sacred town of Omkareshwar, located in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The grand inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Thursday and will be presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Inauguration Ceremony Details:
The inauguration ceremony will take place on the picturesque Mandhata hill, overlooking the majestic Narmada river. It will be marked by elaborate rituals, including ’21 container havans,’ conducted by approximately 300 renowned Vedic Acharyas. This significant event has garnered the attention of around 5,000 seers expected to be in attendance.

Religious Oversight:
The Maharsi Sandeepani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishtan in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, will oversee the religious proceedings associated with the unveiling. Their guidance is being sought with input from Sringeri Sharada Peetham.

Symbolic Statue and Unique Design:
The bronze alloy statue of Adi Shankaracharya is a remarkable representation of the eighth-century philosopher. It stands atop a 75 ft-high concrete pedestal. The statue portrays Adi Shankaracharya at the age of 11 and is revered as the reincarnation of Lord Shiva by Hindus. What sets this statue apart is its unique walking posture, making it one of the world’s distinctive statues.

Durability and Design:
The statue is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, including strong winds and earthquakes. It is estimated to have a life expectancy of approximately 500 years.

Advait Lok and Museum:
As part of the ceremony, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also lay the foundation for the proposed Advait Lok, reminiscent of the Mahakal Lok constructed in the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. This corridor will cover an area of 15.6 hectares. Additionally, a museum showcasing the life and teachings of Adi Shankaracharya is planned for the site.

Adi Shankaracharya, through his propagation of the Vedanta philosophy of ‘Oneness,’ played a pivotal role in unifying six sects. His teachings continue to inspire and guide spiritual seekers, emphasizing the unity and interconnectedness of all beings.
