Nushrratt Bharuccha: Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha has come under the fire after her recent visit to the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain ahead of the New Year.
Nushrratt participated in the sacred Bhasma Aarti on Putrada Ekadashi 2025, and offered her prayers.
What Was The Nushrratt Bharuccha Incident All About?
Nushrratt visited the holy temple for the second time. The actress sat in the Nandi Hall during the early morning ritual. She was later seen absorbed in her prayers. A Mahakal-inscribed stole was presented to her by the temple priests as prasad, which the actress received with visible gratitude and joy.
What Led To The Backlash?
Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat (AIMJ), issued a fatwa against the actress. He remarked that the actions of Nushrratt were against the Sharia Law. Shahabuddin added it’s a grave sin for Muslims to engage in religious practices that are not Islamic. He added that the actress should express remorse of her actions by reciting the Kalima.
