Due to the doctors’ strike in Bhopal, the capital of MP the health services were completely in disarray. The doctors had started a symbolic strike regarding their various demands, due to which OPD to emergency services were completely stopped in the hospital, but the medical education minister of MP met the doctors and called off their strike.
The demands are likely to be fulfilled after the report of this committee. Not only the patients undergoing treatment were facing problems due to the doctors’ strike, but its effect was also being seen in the post-mortem ward. It is being told that the post-mortem of the dead bodies lying in mortuary was being done with a lot of delay. This was a symbolic strike of 2 days of doctors and it is being said that if the demands are not met, the strike may extend for more days. But Minister Vishwas Sarang held a discussion with the Doctors’ Association, after which the doctors decided to call off the strike.
This is the demands of the doctors
Doctors protesting across the state, including Hamidia, Jaypee Hospital in the capital Bhopal, are demanding that the time scale and pay scale be strictly implemented. Apart from this, the old pension scheme should be implemented. Along with this, doctors should be appointed on higher posts in the department and there should be no political interference in transfers. Apart from this, the compulsion of Sarthak app should be abolished and contract doctors should be regularised. New appointment should be made through PSC. With these demands, the doctors were on a symbolic strike for two days.
The doctors had also given a warning before going on strike. During that time, after stopping the treatment for two hours, the government was asked to fulfill the demands. In case of non-fulfillment of demands, the doctors started the strike. But after the assurance of the minister, the doctors started treatment again.
