Ken Betwa link project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa River Link Project on December 25, 2024, in Khajuraho, marking a major step towards addressing water scarcity and fostering prosperity in Bundelkhand.

This ambitious project aims to irrigate drought-prone regions, benefitting over 1,900 villages across ten districts: Chhatarpur, Panna, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Shivpuri, Niwari, Datia, Raisen, Vidisha, and Sagar. Nearly 41 lakh people will gain access to drinking water, significantly improving their quality of life.

Key Features of the Project

Irrigation Benefits: The project will transform farming in the region by enabling irrigated agriculture, bringing smiles to countless farmers.

Energy Production: It will generate 103 MW of hydroelectric power and 27 MW of solar energy, promoting renewable energy usage.

Water Availability: The link will ensure adequate water supply, laying the foundation for economic growth and sustainable development in Bundelkhand.

The Ken-Betwa project is expected to rejuvenate the rural economy by enhancing agricultural yields and creating job opportunities. Additionally, the integration of solar and hydroelectric power aligns with India’s commitment to clean energy, reducing dependency on non-renewable sources and supporting environmental sustainability.

Addressing the event, PM Modi is expected to highlight the transformative potential of the Ken-Betwa link, which is set to bring long-term solutions to water scarcity, boost agricultural productivity, and contribute to rural development.

A Milestone for Bundelkhand

The project symbolizes hope and prosperity for the region, turning water challenges into opportunities for growth. With its implementation, Bundelkhand is poised for a future marked by self-sufficiency and economic upliftment.
