An alumnus of a private pharmacy college in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly poured petrol on a 54-year-old female principal of the institute and set her on fire on Monday in a mark list dispute, after which her condition was extremely critical.
A senior police officer informed that B.M. Principal of College of Pharmacy set on fire by pouring petrol, the accused former student Ashutosh Srivastava reached the nearest deep ditch to commit suicide, but a person present there called the police emergency service Dial 100. Inspector General of Police (Country) Rakesh Gupta told that 'B.M. Dr. Vimukta Sharma, principal of the College of Pharmacy, was allegedly burnt with petrol by Ashutosh Srivastava (24), an alumnus of the institute. The incident took place when the college holiday was over and Sharma plucked a bilv patra (a leaf offered to Lord Shiva which is considered sacred in Hindu beliefs) from a tree in the institute campus before leaving for her home. IG Rural told that the accused Srivastava has been arrested in the case. Gupta quoted the accused as saying that he had done B. Pharma. Had passed the examination in July 2022, but the college was not giving him his mark sheet.
According to the Inspector General of Police, the college management says that Srivastava's mark sheet has not yet reached the institute. He told that about four months ago, Srivastava had allegedly attacked a professor of the college with a knife in the marks list dispute, in which he was slightly injured.
According to the Inspector General of Police, Srivastava was arrested in this case and was released from jail on bail.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (Country) Bhagwat Singh Virde said that after dousing college principal Sharma with fire on Monday, Srivastava allegedly went to a deep gorge of nearby Tincha Falls to commit suicide, but was stopped by a person present there. Sensing his intention, the emergency service of the policeDial 100 was called.The Superintendent of Police said, a police constable who reached Tinchha Falls.
