What’s happening in Manipur?

Manipur has been burning for over two months due to clashes between the Meitei community and the tribal Kukis. The violence has been largely pursued by Meitei’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status which the Kuki community has been opposing. The tension escalated after the Kuki tribe held a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ on May 3 to withstand the Meitei community’s demand.

Ever since the violence broke out in the state, internet services remain suspended, while an uneasy situation continue to prevail in the mountain state.
