Meerut News: Magistrate allows reopening of Brothels in the Scrap Market, women seek Police Protection

Meerut News: The City Magistrate has given a nod to open the brothels located in the Meerut scrap market after a gap of around three years. However, the Magistrate has ordered the opening of these brothels conditionally. The 15 brothels were closed for the last three years. The women in the brothels have asked for protection from the court.

Women in the Brothels asks for Police Protection

The Magistrate has asked for a report from the Brahampuri and Delhi Gate Police station. The women have asked for protection fearing the local businessmen and traders may oppose the opening of these brothels after a long gap of time. The brothels were shut down in the year 2019 after the court orders on the complaint of the flesh traders in the area, where as the people working in the Brothel have been fighting this battle for a very long time.

Traders claim the land belongs to them, wants them to vacate

The traders have claimed that the land where these brothels are located belong to them. These sex workers have taken this place on rent and we want them to vacate these now. The court had then asked the administrative officers to submit reports. The brothel owners claimed they won’t run any unfair business in the brothels. The women had said they will live with their families and won’t indulge in any indecent activities.
