Meerut News: Tragedy Strikes During Kanwar Yatra, Five Kanwariyas Electrocuted in Uttar Pradesh

Meerut News: According to police, five kanwariyas were electrocuted in Meerut after a speaker on their car made touch with a high-tension overhead wire in the district of Bhawanpur in Uttar Pradesh. In the tragedy, numerous other pilgrims on the Kanwar Yatra suffered injuries. The incident happened while the kanwariyas were returning from Haridwar after gathering the holy water, and they had barely entered Meerut. The kanwariyas caused a scene by blocking the road since they were upset about the occurrence. They also charged negligence on the part of Electricity Department officials.

District Magistrate Confirms Fatalities and Ongoing Medical Care for Injured Kanwariyas

District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed the five fatalities and added that the injured are receiving medical attention. "The accident occurred when a group of kanwariyas were returning to their village on a vehicle around 8 pm. Some part of the vehicle touched the high-tension wire overhead," Meena said. The hospital received ten kanwariya patients. He claimed that five of them passed away while receiving treatment. Villagers who were upset by the occurrence protested. According to the police, more personnel have been deployed to prevent any unexpected incidents. This happened after four kanwariyas died and numerous others were hurt in separate car accidents in the Muzaffarnagar region of Uttar Pradesh between Friday and Saturday.

Six Kanwariyas Injured in Separate Incidents in Delhi

According to authorities, six Kanwariyas were hurt in separate instances in the capital on Saturday. In the first instance, a cab allegedly struck a 38-year-old man named Kanwariya on the Vasant Vihar flyover in southwest Delhi, injuring him. The injured person, named as Dharmender Mewat in Haryana, was being transported to the AIIMS Trauma Centre when the police arrived. After receiving treatment for a minor head injury, he was released from the hospital, according to a senior police official.
