Metro Unveils Ambitious Link! Noida to Ghaziabad Connection via Indirapuram Takes Center Stage

Noida News

Noida News: According to a TOI report, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suggested a revised route plan for the Blue Line’s extension from Noida Electronic City in an effort to improve multi-modal connectivity. According to the DMRC report, the most recent proposal calls for combining the last planned station at Sahibabad with the current Rapid Rail station.

Strategic Metro Station Placement

According to the report, the Sahibabad metro station will be positioned in Vasundhara diagonally from the existing Sahibabad Rapid Rail station. The two stations on either side of the Link Road will be connected by a foot overbridge, allowing passengers to travel between the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail corridor and the Blue Line without having to leave the premises.

Genesis of the Blue Line Extension

In 2018, the DMRC submitted its first report proposing to extend the Blue Line to Sahibabad. Over time, more changes were made, with the main goal being to lower project costs. While the Rapid Rail alignment was being worked on, DMRC had to come up with a plan for how to integrate the Sahibabad stations.

Metro Route Overview

The DMRC report states that the metro route will pass through Vasundhara and Indirapuram and include five stations: Sahibabad, DPS Indirapuram, Vaibhav Khand, Shakti Khand, and Vasundhara Sector 5. Singh highlighted that since pillars would be built along road medians, there would be no need to acquire land for the elevated route that would connect the Kanawani culvert to Sahibabad.

Strategic Connectivity at Anand Vihar

The Rapid Rail will connect with the Blue Line at Anand Vihar in Delhi, specifically on the line that runs from Dwarka to Vaishali. Remarkably, the Vaishali station is situated on the same Link Road as Rapid Rail’s Sahibabad station. With an estimated cost of Rs 1,517 crore, the Uttar Pradesh government has developed a cost-sharing formula to finance the metro route. In accordance with this agreement, the state will make an 80% contribution through its agencies, with the Housing Board and GDA contributing an equal amount. The Central government will provide the remaining 20% of the funding.
