Bihar Government's Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojna (MVPY) is an important welfare program that provides financial support to elderly citizens who do not have a regular source of income. This pension scheme is for senior citizens aged 60 years and above and provides them with financial assistance on a monthly basis so that they can live with dignity.

The scheme is part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and is adapted to the demographic and economic realities of people in Bihar.

Who is Eligible for the Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojna?

The MVPY is committed to inclusion and simplicity. Here are the criteria for eligibility:

Age: The applicant must be at least 60 years old.

Residency: The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Bihar.

Income: There is no income cap; however, the applicant must not be receiving a pension from the Government of India schemes, such as EPFO or any other contributory scheme.

Exclusions: A retired government employee or any beneficiary of any government pension scheme will be excluded.

Documentation: An Aadhaar card, proof of residence, bank account details, and proof of age are required to apply.

The scheme is not caste- or religion-specific, which means any eligible citizen can benefit from it regardless of caste or social status.

Benefits of the MVPY Scheme

Under this scheme,

Those aged 60-79 will receive Rs. 400 each month.

Those aged 80 and over will receive Rs 500 each month.

Pension is credited to the bank account of beneficiaries directly through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), so payments can be made on a monthly basis.

This means there are no scammers or payments made offline, and it is very transparent.

The scheme is a lifeline for the elderly, especially in rural or economically backward areas, who may not have support from family or access to other benefits.

How to Apply?

Eligible applicants can apply via: The official MyScheme portal, Block Development Offices, or Common Service Centres (CSCs). Online applications are preferable to provide transparency and fairness, but there are some offline options for those who are not digitally literate.
