Murshidabad Violence: 'More Than 400 Hindus Flee... Appeasement Politics...'Suvendu Adhikari Slams Mamata Banerjee for Religious Persecution

Violence in Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district sees no end. Violence erupted last Tuesday during anti-Waqf protests in Murshidabad. 3 people have lost their lives and more than 400 Hindus have fled the region. Calcutta High Court had to intervene. More than 5 BSF companies have been deployed. BJP has blamed politics of appeasement for the violence. Meanwhile, Mamata on Saturday said that, “Waqf Act won’t be implemented in Bengal.”

Three Innocents Have Lost Their Lives, More Than 400 Hindus Flee

Protests in Murshidabad are getting more violent. 3 people have lost their lives. Haragobindo Das (65), Chandan Das (40) and Ezaz Ahmed (25) were among the deceased. According to several media reports, more than 400 Hindus have fled Murshidabad district due to violent anti-Waqf protests. Sujit Ghoshal, a victim of violence, told India Today TV, “I was told by rioters that this is just a trailer. The real movie will start soon. We were here till 11 pm. But there weren’t any signs of anyone from the administration. Even now also, there is no one present.” The violence is thickest in Suti, Dhulian, Samserganj and Jangipur areas of Murshidabad.

Calcutta High Court Intervenes

Earlier the whole law and order situation was managed by the local police administration. But taking the toll on the situation, the High Court of the state intervened and ordered deployment of Central and Paramilitary forces in the region. Calcutta High Court in a statement said that, “cannot turn a blind eye to reports of vandalism in a few districts of West Bengal."

“Bengal is not safe for Hindus” – Suvendu Adhikari

Many top-rank leaders of West Bengal BJP along with Suvendu Adhikari have criticised the inefficiency of police. Adhikari also told the press that letting Waqf protests turn violent is nothing but politics of Muslim appeasement. He also added that West Bengal is not safe for Hindus any more.

More than 400 Hindus from Dhulian, Murshidabad driven by fear of religiously driven bigots were forced to flee across the river & take shelter at Par Lalpur High School, Deonapur-Sovapur GP, Baisnabnagar, Malda.

Politics of Religious Persecution and Muslim Appeasement in West Bengal

More than 150 people have been arrested by the forces in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee on Saturday appealed for peace and harmony among communities. But she also added that Waqf Act will not be implemented in the state. Many serious questions arise as the state is burning. Many say, CM should have avoided talking about Waqf implementation amid violent protests. She is already under tight scrutiny from BJP on the issue of Muslim appeasement.
Muslims have been a core and trusted vote for TMC. Mamata is well aware that a division between Muslim votes can be fatal for TMC in 2026 polls.
