Nagpur News: A Holi celebration in Maharashtra’s Nagpur turned tragic after a four-year-old boy sustained severe burn injuries when his grandmother allegedly poured boiling water on him. The incident took place on March 3, 2026, in Ward No. 2 of the Aramshin area in Koradi.
Child Suffers 45% Burns Below Waist
The child, identified as Om Harish Wange, was playing outside his home with a spray bottle filled with paint as part of Holi festivities. According to reports, he accidentally sprayed some colour on his grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray, who was carrying a bucket of water heated over Holi wood.
Eyewitness accounts state that the grandmother, angered by the act, threw the scalding water on the child. The hot water caused serious burns below his waist, affecting nearly 45% of his body. Family members immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Nagpur, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
CCTV Footage Sparks Outrage
Nagpur News: The CCTV recording of the incident shows a child coming toward his grandmother, smiling and spraying her with colour, and then she pours boiling water on him. The child can be seen crying out in pain and jumping back away from the boiling water, while witnesses rush in to pour cold water on him to help reduce the burns he received from the boiling water.
Since the footage has been posted on social media, there have been many calls for action and outrage from the public.
The local police have started a legal case against the grandmother for this act. As of the date of March 4, 2026, there have been no arrests made in this case, but authorities state that their investigation is ongoing.
This incident has tainted the celebrations of Holi in the community. In addition, it has raised questions regarding anger management in the home and the safety of children in the home.
