Namo Bharat Train Gets Approval to Run Till Sarai Kale Khan, CMRS Clears Operations

Internal sources suggest that operations could start in the last week of December, marking a major boost to Delhi–NCR’s high-speed regional connectivity.

The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat train is now ready to operate beyond New Ashok Nagar, crossing the Yamuna and reaching Sarai Kale Khan. After successful trial runs, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has granted approval for operations on this extended stretch. According to sources, passenger services are expected to begin within December itself.

Second Major Multimodal Transit Hub

With this extension, Sarai Kale Khan will become the second multimodal transit hub on the corridor after Anand Vihar. The hub will integrate railways, metro services, ISBT buses, and the Namo Bharat train at one location, offering seamless travel options for thousands of daily commuters. The next station after Sarai Kale Khan will be Jangpura, where construction work is still underway.

When Will Service Start?

The new 5-km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan is fully ready, and safety clearances are complete. Internal sources suggest that operations could start in the last week of December, marking a major boost to Delhi–NCR’s high-speed regional connectivity.

Boost to NCR Mobility

The extension is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease congestion for commuters heading toward central Delhi. Once operational, it will strengthen last-mile connectivity and provide faster access to workplaces, educational hubs, and transit stations.
