The proposed Namo Bharat train service between Delhi and Alwar under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is expected to significantly reduce traffic and population pressure in the National Capital Region (NCR). However, the plan has hit a roadblock over the location of the station in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram.

According to officials, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is opposing the proposed station at Shankar Chowk, citing already high traffic congestion in the area. To resolve the issue, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary of the Town and Country Planning Department of Haryana to determine a suitable location for the station.

A committee has been set up to finalize the station site.

Station Location to Be Finalized Soon

The committee is expected to submit its recommendation within the next 10 days. Once the location is finalized, groundwork and further execution of the project will begin. Authorities aim to identify a location that avoids traffic bottlenecks and supports seamless commuter flow.

RRTS to Ease Pressure on NCR

The Delhi-Alwar RRTS corridor is part of the Centre’s broader vision to reduce the stress on Delhi and nearby cities. The high-speed train service will connect Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) to Alwar (Rajasthan) and is planned to be developed along the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.

Officials believe that once the RRTS is operational, people who currently prefer living in Delhi and its immediate surroundings might opt to live in towns like Alwar, thanks to reduced travel time. This shift is expected to ease both traffic congestion and population density in Delhi-NCR.

The Namo Bharat corridor, once completed, will be a game-changer in regional mobility, benefiting not just long-distance commuters but also residents of Gurugram and nearby areas, who will gain faster and more efficient connectivity for work, business, and travel.
