Neeraj, a resident of Vaishali’s Patepur, was one of four victims from Vaishali, while five others were from Samastipur. His father, Sanjeev Paswan, was devastated upon receiving the news, as the family struggled to grasp the enormity of their loss.
The stampede occurred late Saturday night as heavy passenger rush combined with platform congestion led to panic and chaos. Eyewitnesses reported that the overcrowded footbridge became a bottleneck, causing people to stumble and get trampled in the melee.
Rescue efforts were launched immediately, with injured victims rushed to nearby hospitals. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation into the incident, while grieving families demand justice and better crowd management at railway stations.
Videos from the site, including Neeraj’s mother’s wails, have gone viral on social media, drawing widespread sympathy and outrage. Many have criticized railway authorities for poor crowd control measures, urging the government to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
