Noida News: Authority Scraps Housing Plan, Offers Residential Plots to Farmers

In a major change, the Noida administration decides to give 268 residential plots to farmers who donated their land instead of pursuing plans for group housing in Sector 146.

Noida News: The Noida government announced on Tuesday that it had abandoned its proposal to use the property for group housing developments in Sector 146 and had instead divided up residential plots for farmers. The industrial town of Noida will receive at least 268 residential plots in Sector 146, allotted to farmers who donated their land for the project.

Noida Administration Swaps Group Housing for Residential Plots

In a major change, the Noida administration decides to give 268 residential plots to farmers who donated their land instead of pursuing plans for group housing in Sector 146.

In accordance with the authority’s standards, the farmer’s family is entitled to 5% of the total land bought from them as residential land in an urban area. In addition to these 268 plots, the authorities has divided the city into 44 plots in various sectors and 42 plots in Sector 43.

5% Residential Plot Allocated to Eligible Farmer in Village

“As per the rules, we allot the 5% residential plot to the eligible farmer in his village for his family. And if there is no land left in the village, then the authority will allot the plot in any village or sector located in a 3km radius of that particular village. And if there is no land in the 3km radius, then the farmer will be alloted land in Sector 146 now that the group housing projects have been scrapped,” said Pal.

Financial Assistance Option for Farmers in Absence of Residential Land

It is clearly stated in policy that farmers may request financial assistance in place of land if there is no residential land available to them. Every farmer receives 22,000 per square metre from the authority for their land. In Noida, there are 54 villages where land was purchased. Farmers continue to demonstrate outside the authority building, therefore the authority has chosen to placate them with financial support.

“We want the residential plots instead of money because we need plots for our families. If the authority will not allot us plots, then we will continue to protest,” Prempal Chauhan, a farmer from Nagli Wazidpur, stated.
