In response to the anticipated surge in traffic on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway due to the upcoming Noida airport, the Noida Authority is devising a forward-thinking solution. A proposed 28km alternative road aims to provide relief by skirting the expressway and connecting key areas. The route, originating near the Kalindi Kunj barrage in Delhi and stretching along the Yamuna-Pushta road, is expected to streamline travel from Delhi to the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, ultimately reaching the Jewar airport.
Detailed Planning and Feasibility Study
In a significant development, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M led a comprehensive discussion on the project and decided to form a committee for an in-depth feasibility study. Chaired by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri, the committee will collaborate with the irrigation department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to assess the viability of the proposed route. This proactive approach demonstrates the Noida Authority's commitment to addressing potential traffic challenges in the region.
Path Ahead: NHAI Oversight and Government Approval
The Noida Authority plans to engage NHAI in overseeing the construction of the new road, which is set to traverse multiple cities. Once the project is ready for implementation, the detailed project report will be submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government for consideration of the funding pattern. This initiative underscores the authority's commitment to sustainable urban planning and proactive infrastructure development to meet the growing demands of the region.
