During the Z-Morh Tunnel inauguration in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team for the smooth and transparent conduct of elections in the region. Abdullah highlighted the absence of any complaints regarding irregularities, misuse of power, or electoral misconduct, crediting PM Modi, his colleagues, and the Election Commission of India for ensuring a fair process.
“The elections were conducted without any allegations of malpractice. This is a testament to the administration's commitment to democratic values,” said Abdullah.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Fair Practices
Addressing concerns often raised during elections, Abdullah affirmed that there were no complaints of irregularities involving Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The seamless electoral process strengthened the public's faith in democratic institutions and ensured the results were credible and widely accepted.
Call for Statehood Restoration
Abdullah also expressed optimism regarding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, a promise made by PM Modi in the past. “My heart says that very soon you will fulfill your promise of restoring statehood,” he stated.
The Chief Minister thanked PM Modi for attending the event despite the harsh weather, emphasizing the Prime Minister’s long-standing connection with Jammu and Kashmir. “We hope you visit frequently and share in our happiness,” he added.
This interaction reflects the evolving relationship between the central government and the region, with hopes for continued collaboration and development.
