Patna News: Dead crops, packed crematorium: Severe heatwave in Bihar throws life out of gear

Patna news

Bihar is still suffering from a severe heatwave that has disrupted daily life for residents and had an impact on agriculture and animals. In the last three days, there have been 44 deaths in the state as a result of the extreme heat.

Barari Ghat crematorium in Bhagalpur saw heartbreaking scenes, as there is no longer room for the bodies to be buried. People were seen hurrying to bury their loved ones since the crematorium was overloaded due to the rapid rise in heat-related mortality.

“More and more people are dying each day due to extreme heat. There is a pile of dead bodies lying to be buried. People are coming from far and wide to burn the bodies at the ghat,” an official who works at Barari Ghat told.

The state’s already deteriorating healthcare system has been burdened by the severe temperatures, which have also had a negative impact on agricultural production.

“A peasant unexpectedly passed away after collapsing from the heat. Our cattle and crops have been severely impacted by the lack of water in our community, according to Salempur’s residents.

Another local claimed that crops had burned in the fields and the Chandan river in Amarpur, which is located in the Banka district, had dried up. A farmer in the Dhoraiya district had similar thoughts when he remarked, “The Gerua river going through our village has dried up due to the intense sun and it is not raining. All we can do is wait for the monsoon to start.
