Patna News: Supreme Court Provides Relief to Students Enrolled in Medical Colleges After September 30

Patna News: The National Medical Council, in response to students enrolling in medical colleges after the September 30 deadline, has been granted relief by the Supreme Court. This enrollment period was deemed illegal by the NMC, citing a Supreme Court order. However, the Supreme Court has now permitted a special opportunity for enrollment during the 2023-24 session.

Over 800 students who enrolled in various government medical colleges in the state after the official enrollment period had concluded faced a challenge. The National Medical Council had declared their enrollment illegal, raising concerns regarding their academic prospects.

Special Stray Vacancy Round Approval

The Supreme Court’s response has come in the form of a Special Stray Vacancy Round, allowing these students the chance to fill vacant seats. This decision brings relief to the affected students.

An official from the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) mentioned that the validation of students enrolled in MBBS courses has been completed. A letter has been received to conduct the Stray Vacancy Round to facilitate the nomination process for vacant seats. Detailed schedules and procedures have been posted on the BCECEB website.

Registration for the Stray Vacancy Round has already commenced, and the merit list was released on Tuesday. Candidates can register and fill their choices based on merit from November 1 to 3. The provisional seat allotment will be published on November 5, with the allotment letter issued on the same day. Nomination and document verification are scheduled for November 6 to 7.

Nationwide Seat Allotment Program

The Medical Counseling Committee has also introduced a program for seat nominations across various quotas, including All India Quota, Deemed, Central, AIIMS, JIPMER, and State Quota. Candidates must register separately for the Special Stray Vacancy Round through detailed information provided on the mcc.nic.in website. Registration will be accepted until November 5. The choice filling and locking process will be open from November 1 to 5, with the Special Stray Vacancy Seat Allotment Result set for release on November 7. Candidates can report for enrollment at the allotted colleges between November 8 and 15.
