PM Modi Bengaluru Visit: Vande Bharat Trains have been flagged off. Yellow Line Metro and Urban Connectivity Projects Get Green Light, Check details

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bengaluru to launch significant transportation projects aimed at improving urban connectivity. He has been flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains, expanded the Bengaluru Metro network.

On August 10, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Bengaluru. This was the start of an important trip that was mainly about working on big transportation and city development projects all over the city.

Putting three Vande Bharat Express trains on the road

There were three Vande Bharat Express trains leaving KSR Bengaluru Railway Station at around 11 a.m. Some of these roads are the ones between Bengaluru and Belgaum, Amritsar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni) and Pune. With this start, India now has 150 Vande Bharat trains, making it easier for people in Karnataka, Punjab, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir to get to each other.

Launch of the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line

Soon after the trains started running, PM Modi opened the Bengaluru Metro’s 19-kilometer Yellow Line, which has 16 stops and runs from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra. This metro line, which is worth about ₹7,160 crore in Phase 2, connects important residential and commercial hubs, such as the Electronics City IT corridor. It also makes key corridors like Hosur Road and Silk Board Junction less crowded with cars. PM Modi rode this new subway line from RV Road to Electronic City as well.

Putting down the foundation stone for Phase 3 of the Bengaluru Metro Project

PM Modi rolled out the first stone of the ₹15,610 crore Phase-3 Metro project at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru. This expansion will add more than 44 kilometres of elevated tracks and 31 stations, making it much easier for people to move around in the city as it grows by connecting new residential, industrial, and business areas.

Safety measures and traffic control

Over 10,000 police officers were sent out across the city to make sure the visit went smoothly and safely. Traffic was also limited in key areas like Marenahalli Main Road, Electronic City Flyover, and Hosur Road.

At the end of his almost four-hour visit, PM Modi spoke to a crowd of people and emphasized that the government was committed to better the quality of life in Bengaluru and building up the city’s infrastructure.
