During a major developmental spurt in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew to Motihari on July 18, 2025, and there he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than 7200 crores. Such efforts are part of the greater cause and effort of the BJP as Viksit Bihar BJP sahi samaan Viksit Bharat (Developed Bihar to a Developed India) and seeks to enhance infrastructural development in various fields such as rail, roads, IT, fisheries, and rural development.
A cordial welcome by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, welcomed the visit, who was moved by the magnitude of the centre's commitment. He described the projects as a gift that could fast-track the long-term development aspirations of Bihar.
₹7200 Crore Investment to Reshape Bihar’s Infrastructure
The multisector package includes national and state highway expansion, new modernised railway systems, and the creation of digital infrastructure such as IT hubs and rural-based fisheries promotion plans. Such projects are designed such that they can improve lives, especially in Eastern Bihar, and jobs as well as investors are welcome.
The road and rail projects are likely to enhance the connectivity between various districts, lower the costs of logistics of goods, and generate new opportunities to integrate both rural and urban areas.
Amrit Bharat Express Trains: Connectivity Revolution for Bihar
Another major point was the commissioning of four new Amrit Bharat Express trains, as it marked the state of Bihar jumping into modern rail accessibility. These semi-high-speed trains will help in reducing commute time, providing better comfort to the passengers, and ensuring that poorly serviced routes can connect those economic regions in the country. The project fulfils the Indian desire to modernise the transport infrastructure and make sure that Bihar does not stay behind the national development.
