Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day visit to Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on Friday, where he is set to flag off four new Vande Bharat Express trains. Ahead of the visit, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday reviewed preparations at the railway station, ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the event.

According to officials, the four new Vande Bharat trains will operate on the Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes. These trains are expected to significantly reduce travel time between major cities, improve regional connectivity, and promote tourism and trade across multiple states.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure a seamless and well-coordinated event. He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness, traffic discipline, and strict security arrangements throughout the Prime Minister’s visit. The review meeting included senior railway and district officers who briefed the CM on venue setup, security measures, and beautification works.
Firozpur-Delhi train will be the fastest on its route, completing the journey in 6 hours and 40 minutes
A statement from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) highlighted that these high-speed trains will not only enhance comfort and efficiency for passengers but also play a key role in boosting economic and cultural ties. The Banaras-Khajuraho Vande Bharat will reduce travel time by nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes and connect prominent spiritual destinations such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho, promoting religious tourism.
Similarly, the Lucknow-Saharanpur train will improve connectivity to Haridwar via Roorkee, cutting travel time to around 7 hours and 45 minutes. The Firozpur-Delhi train will be the fastest on its route, completing the journey in 6 hours and 40 minutes, strengthening Punjab’s link with the national capital. In the South, the Ernakulam-Bengaluru train will cover the distance in just 8 hours and 40 minutes, reducing travel time by over two hours and connecting key IT and commercial hubs.
