Prime Minister Modi Visits Kaziranga National Park, Takes Elephant Safari; Likely to Unveil Several Developmental Projects in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a historic journey to Assam’s Kaziranga National Park, marking the first visit by a Prime Minister to the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1957. His visit aimed to explore the rich wildlife and natural beauty of the region, showcasing the government’s commitment to environmental conservation and development initiatives.

The Safari Experience

Accompanied by park director Sonali Ghosh and senior forest officials, Prime Minister Modi embarked on both elephant and jeep safaris to delve into the heart of Kaziranga’s wilderness. The elephant safari, followed by a jeep expedition in the Mihimukh area, offered a firsthand glimpse of the diverse flora and fauna that thrive within the park’s Central Kohora range.

Connecting with Nature

Expressing his admiration for Kaziranga’s unparalleled beauty, Prime Minister Modi urged others to experience its landscapes and the warm hospitality of Assam’s people. He emphasized how each visit to the national park enriches the soul and fosters a deep connection with the essence of Assam.

Feeding Elephants

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi had the opportunity to interact with three elephants – Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phoolmai – symbolizing the harmony between humans and wildlife in Kaziranga.

Acknowledging Conservation Efforts

Prime Minister Modi commended the efforts of Van Durga, a team of women forest guards, who play a pivotal role in safeguarding the region’s natural heritage. He praised their dedication and courage in protecting the forests and wildlife of Kaziranga, serving as an inspiration to all.

Development Projects

Prime Minister Modi’s visit will also spotlight the government’s dedication to development in Assam, as he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation for various projects worth Rs. 18,000 crore. These collaborative initiatives between the Assam and Central governments will focus on bolstering infrastructure and fostering economic growth across the region.

Warm Welcome

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival in Assam, emphasizing the significance of his visit to the land of Maa Kamakhya and Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev.

Statue of Valour

As part of his itinerary, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 125-ft high ‘Statue of Valour’ of Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat, celebrating the legendary Ahom general’s heroic resistance against invaders.

Addressing the Public

The Prime Minister is set to address a public meeting at Meleng Meteli Pothar, Jorhat district, where he will engage with the local community and discuss the government’s initiatives for the region’s development.
