Priyanka Chaturvedi: Former Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi has blasted the recent statement by Purnia independent MP Pappu Yadav, terming it “shameless, filthy and disgusting.”
Pappu Yadav had recently claimed that 90 percent of women politicians in the country start their political career by sleeping with their male counterparts.
The Bihar State Women Commission took suo motu cognizance of the matter and issued him a notice as to why a recommendation to declare his membership null and void should not be sent to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Priyanka Chaturvedi posted on X that it is this sick mindset of people like Pappu Yadav that gives wings to thousands of people who continue to judge women in politics and use slander & character assassination as a tool to silence them.
Reaction By Other Politicians
Congress leader Mumtaz Patel commented that the statement of Pappu Yadav is deeply shocking, shameful and derogatory. Patel remarked that it is shocking to have such a dirty mindset instead of coming together to support women of the country.
Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar commented that using such inappropriate language against women is not forgivable. Wadettiwar also remarked what whoever the leader may be, if they use such language, action should be taken.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya commented that Pappu Yadav thinks in the same way as his values and political culture. Maurya commented that we believe in treating women as the embodiment of the divine as we respect women and hold them in high regard with dignity and honour. Maurya also remarked that we see women as a form of Goddess in our tradition.
JD(U) MLA Shalini Mishra commented that Pappu Yadav has just shown his class and mindset. Mishra added that the word ‘condemnable’ is too small for such as horrific act and it should never go unpunished.

Pappu Yadav Defends Himself
Pappu Yadav has now claimed that about 70 to 80 percent of the country’s politicians watch porn and he wants the Indian government to check everyone, including himself. Yadav went on to comment that he is against male politicians who exploit female political aspirants, and he is not at all against female politicians or political aspirants.
The Purnia MP added that it is shocking that he received a notice from the Bihar Women’s Commission when almost all Indian politicians exploit women and then talk about the Women’s Reservation Bill.
