Pro-Kannada Leader Vatal Nagaraj Detained as Karnataka Bandh Gains Momentum

As the Karnataka Bandh over sharing Cauvery water grows, flight delays and protesters hit Bengaluru.

Karnataka Bandh: 22 inbound flights and 22 departures from Kempegowda International Airport are cancelled today due to the statewide Karnataka Bandh over the Cauvery water sharing dispute. 44 flights have been cancelled owing to operational problems, according to airport authorities, and passengers have been informed in advance.

Mass Detentions and Section 144 Imposed

According to DCP Central Division Shekhar T, the Bengaluru Police have detained around 200 protesters from pro-Kannada organisations in various locations, including the airport and close to Attibele, which is located at the boundary of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. As a result of the presence of over 2,000 pro-Kannada organisations protesting the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, Section 144 has been imposed in the city until Saturday am.

Prominent Pro-Kannada Leader Vatal Nagaraj Detained as Karnataka Bandh Spreads Across the State

During the Karnataka Bandh protest, pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has been held by the Town Hall Police. In numerous areas of the state, Section 144 has been implemented due to the Bandh. Vattal Nagaraj, the leader of the Kannada Okkuta, oversaw the bandh from 6 am to 6 pm. People from all walks of life will probably take part in the large protest procession from Town Hall to Freedom Park in the city as part of the bandh.
