Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann Friday paid respect at the Dukh Niwaran Sahib to mark the festival of Baisakhi and prayed for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the state. Reminiscing about the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, he said, on this day in 1969, Guru Gobind Singh had laid the foundation of ‘Khalsa Panth’ at Shri Anandpur Sahib by baptizing ‘Panj Pyaras belonging to different regions and religions.
Baisakhi symbolises the spirit of Punjab
The Punjab chief minister said that Baisakhi celebrates the spirit of Punjab, Punjabis and Unity in Diversity. Dashmesh Pitaahcarved out a casteless society in this way and preached the gospels of love and compassion for all people, universal brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence, the Punjab CM said.

Punjab govt to compensate for the loss of farmers
The festival of Baisakhi heralds the start of the harvest season and the growth of the Rabi crops, the Punjab CM said. He further stated that the state’s farmers gather, on this day, to celebrate the rewards of their labour and celebrate a prosperous future.
The Punjab CM lamented that this year’s circumstances are different because farmers have lost a significant amount of crop production as a result of the recent incessant unseasonal rain. The state administration is dedicated to providing for the farmers and farm laborers in this hour of need, the chief minister reaffirmed. He said that the state government has already begun the process of compensating the farmers for their significant loss.
Earlier, CM Mann had slammed the Centre for overlooking the concerns of Punjab farmers. He assured farmers that state will take care of their damages.
