24 Lakh tonnes of wheat procurement to increase in Punjab

Wheat harvesting is going on in many states of the country. The farmer is reaching the market immediately after cutting the wheat. The farmer is first sensing the trend of the weather. The rain that came a day or two ago has increased the concern of the farmer who is harvesting wheat. On the other hand, the central and state governments are also keeping an eye on wheat procurement. The central government is collecting wheat procurement data from agencies. At the same time, the state government is also taking updates of wheat data from the mandi level. Farmers should not face any kind of problem at the procurement centres. This is also being specially taken care of. Relieving news has come out from Punjab regarding the purchase of wheat. It has been estimated that there will be a bumper purchase of wheat. It is clear from this that farmers will also earn decent money by selling wheat.

12 million tonnes of wheat can be procured in Punjab

Wheat is reaching the mandis of Punjab. Officials are also busy in buying wheat. Now the Punjab government official told that wheat procurement can be good in the current rabi season. The procurement figure is estimated to reach 12 million tonnes. Whereas last year wheat procurement was 96.47 lakh tonnes. An increase of about 24 lakh tonnes is being registered.

14 lakh hectare crop affected

About 14 lakh hectares of crops have been affected due to unseasonal rains in Punjab. Recently, MP Raghav Chadha also wrote a letter to the central government to help the affected farmers. State government officials say that crops have been sown in a total of 34.90 lakh hectares in Rajru, while 14 lakh hectares have been affected. This is a big part. The state agriculture department has predicted an average yield of 47.24 quintals per hectare or 19 quintals per acre. The figure has been extracted on this basis.

There was unseasonal rain and hailstorm in March. Its effect has been seen on the crop. Due to hailstorm and strong winds, wheat and other crops have been affected in many other places including Fazilka, Muktsar, Moga and Patiala in Punjab. However, it is a matter of pride that the central government agencies have given exemption of shriveled, wet and broken wheat up to 18 percent. This will not cause much loss to the farmers. Just the farmers are praying for no rain till the wheat is sold.
