The Punjab Health Department has launched action against alleged food adulteration in Barnala, seizing around 600 kg of suspected fake paneer during a special enforcement drive, according to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab.

The department’s team reportedly conducted the operation as part of a special campaign aimed at cracking down on food adulteration and protecting consumers from unsafe food products.
During the action in Barnala, officials recovered approximately 600 kg of alleged fake paneer. One person was also taken into custody in connection with the case, according to the AAP Punjab post.

The action comes amid continued efforts by authorities to check the sale and distribution of adulterated food items. Paneer and other dairy products are among the food items that can be subjected to adulteration, particularly when demand is high.
Health officials are expected to conduct further investigation and testing of the seized material to establish its composition and determine the appropriate legal action.
The Punjab government has been highlighting enforcement drives against food adulteration as part of its public health measures, while consumers are advised to purchase dairy products from reliable sources and remain alert to suspiciously priced or poor-quality products.
